The Aspen Foundation has been established to act as a health promotion charity.
The foundation's mission is to undertake life-changing healthcare through significantly reducing or eradicating key illnesses in the Australian community and to provide education for the sustainability of improved health practices.
The first project that the trustees of the Aspen Foundation intend to undertake is the provision of environment and public health services, including sanitation services and public health education, to remote Australian communities (specifically Indigenous communities), with the aim of radically reducing and ultimately eliminating the incidence of trachoma in Australia. Australia is the only first-world country where trachoma still occurs in the population.
The Aspen Foundation intends to work closely with respective state and territory goverment medical services who are working on related visual health projects in remote Australian communities.
